Sheryl Lindsey

Sheryl Leigh (Griffin) Lindsey, 42, of Mustoe, died Tuesday, July 20, 2021 at her home.  She was born September 9, 1978 in Staunton, a daughter of Walter Lee “Rick” and Bobbie Jean (Brown) Griffin.

An avid reader and writer, Sheryl wrote many treasured poems and short stories for her high school forensics contests. She enjoyed hunting and fishing in her younger years, always trying to beat her older sister. Additionally, she loved drag racing with her dad and trips to the beach and music concerts with husband.

Sheryl will be remembered as a loving wife to Matt, as well as a sweet, kind and helpful daughter to her parents, and being best friends with her mother, happily sharing their home for the past 18 years.

Before her illness, she had worked at Fast Break, High’s Restaurant, Highland Data and various other places in Washington, D.C. and Maryland.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by her husband of 6 years, Matthew Burton Lindsey; aunt, Shirley Puffenbarger of Staunton; and her frisky pet, Forrest Gump.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Shelby Griffin Quirino.

A celebration of Sheryl’s life will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at Obaugh Funeral Home with pastor Melvin Lindsey. Burial will follow in the Griffin Family Cemetery at Mustoe.

Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Family and close friends will serve as active pallbearers.
