Naomi Ruth (Curry) Halterman, 97, of Stuarts Draft and formerly Monterey, passed away, Wednesday, December 29, 2021 at Augusta Health.
She was born in Lost Creek, WV December 7, 1924, a daughter of the late Luther Roscoe and Ruth (Dodril) Curry.
A World War II veteran, Naomi served with the US Naval Personnel Separation Unit. Upon returning she married Hubert Morton Halterman and became a supervisor at Aileen, Inc. She attended Highland Baptist Church.
A social butterfly with a good humor, Naomi enjoyed card games and bingo with friends, cooking, deer hunting and tending to her garden. She was active in the local senior group when it was still in operation in Monterey. Above all, she will be remembered as one who was selfless, caring and always willing to do for others.
She is survived by a daughter, Terry Persinger and husband, Clifford Jr. of Clifton Forge; son, Stephen D. Halterman of Stuarts Draft; seven grandchildren, Sarah Charles, Stephen “Lucas” Colley, Elizabeth Halterman, William “Chase” Halterman, Brandy Harold, Lacey Johnson and Lindsay Brown; eight great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her parents and husband of 56 years, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Luther Roscoe Curry Jr., William Curry, David Curry, Eleanor Franklin and Mary Elizabeth Venettozzi.
A funeral service will be held 2 p.m., Sunday, January 2, 2022 at Obaugh Funeral Home with pastor Darren Massey officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Grass Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Travis Halterman, Rick Halterman, Kevin Goodbar, Shaun Halterman, Brett Johnson and Mike Venettozzi Jr.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
