Mary Elizabeth (Carpenter) Wooddell, 90, widow of Luther Harding Wooddell, of Burnsville passed away Monday, May 28, 2018 surrounded by her family at home.
She was born December 26, 1927, the daughter of the late Dan and May (Lyle) Carpenter.
Mary was a member of Burnsville United Methodist Church. She loved listening to Bluegrass music and the music of George Jones. She will also be remembered for her love of shopping.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by two sons, Danny Burton and Gary Luther Wooddell; grandson, Jason Roberts and brother, Guy Carpenter.
She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Sam Roberts of Burnsville and Carolyn and Charles McCormick of Williamsville; grandchildren Michael Roberts and Brenda Cauley of Hot Springs, Cindy Armstrong and husband, Kevin of Burnsville; Gail Armstrong and husband, Kevin of New Hope and Tammy Gallimore and husband, Jay of Waynesboro; great-grandchildren, Kylie and Abigail Armstrong, Hunter, Melody and Forrest Gallimore, Samantha Plecker, Logan, Dylan and Hannah Armstrong; great-great-grandson, Blake Armstong; as well as her beloved dog, Rascal.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, June 1, 2018 at Burnsville United Methodist Church with the Rev. Lorrie Aikens officiating. Interment will follow in Burnsville Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Active pallbearers will be Kevin, Logan and Dylan Armstrong, J.P. Plecker, Mikey Cauley, Bill Wilson, Jayme Roberts.
