Helen (Lindsay) Durrett, 81, of Warm Springs, passed away, Friday, April 1, 2022 at Lewis Gale Montgomery Hospital in Blacksburg.
She was born February 8, 1941 in Bath County, a daughter of the late Raymond Frank Lindsay and Lillie Virginia (Rowe) Lindsay Bogan.
Mrs. Durrett was a member of Faith Covenant Family Church. She had worked at The Homestead for 36 years and upon her retirement became a cook at her family’s restaurant, Lindsay’s Roost.
A very athletic lady, Helen played basketball while attending Valley High School and enjoyed bowling and softball in her adult life. She loved music, dancing, cooking and going to thrift stores. She was a very giving person, who never met a stranger. She will be remembered as a loving and caring mother.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sister, Terry Lindsay; and three brothers, Raymond “Pete,” Kenny and Keith Lindsay.
She is survived by her daughter, Stacey Durrett of Warm Springs; and three brothers, Robert E. Lindsay and wife, Phyllis, Mike Lindsay and David Lindsay; many close friends; as well as her beloved pets, Garcia and MeMe.
A memorial service will be held 3 p.m., Sunday, April 24, 2022 at Virginia Chapel United Methodist Church with Pastors Sang Lee and Steve Shaver officiating.
The family will receive friends one hour prior at the church.
