Clyde OBrian Beck, 80, of Doe Hill passed away Thursday, August 9, 2018 at his home.
He was born February 1, 1938, on the family farm in Somerset (Orange County), one of twelve children, of the late Anna Goebel (Thomas) and Frank Browning Beck.
As a young man he served in the U.S. Navy and lived various places all over the United States, but home was in Virginia. For the last 30+ years of his life he lived in Highland and Bath counties. At heart, he was an artist with a keen eye and appreciation of beauty and the natural world. At root, he was a kind and gentle man with a huge heart. His legacy is his art.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his siblings, Dorothy Geneva Beck, George Centor Beck, Gladys Lee (Beck) Graves, Margie Bell Beck, Lowell Cleveland Beck, Oscar Shelton Beck and Barbara Ann Beck.
Clyde is survived by his daughter, Justine Beck Rose and husband, Jonathan of Strasburg; son, Brian David Beck and wife Manda (Widmyer) of Harrisburg, N.C.; grandson Malcolm Beck Rose of Strasburg; siblings, James “JB” Ellsworth Beck, Mary Bernice (Beck) Herndon, Eugene Franklin Beck and Carlton Weaver Beck.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, October 20, 2018 at the Unitarian Universalist Church of the Shenandoah Valley, 6380 Valley Pike, Stephens City, Va.
Memorial contributions may be made to Highland Public Library, P.O. Box 519, Monterey, Va. 24465, that hosted his final art show and provided him with hours of entertainment through their collection of books and movies.
