Wlmer Garnett Simmons

Elmer Garnett Simmons, 54, of Virginia Beach Medi-Center, died Friday, June 19, 1992.

He was born May 20, 1938 in Highland County, a son of Clara Simmons.

He was a member of Hiner Brethren Church and had been employed by the city of Staunton before an injury.

Survivors include three daughters, Cheryle Wright of Staunton, Patsy Clayton of Waynesboro and Donna Knuckols of Chester; a son, Jeff Simmons of Staunton; a step-son, Gary Gutshall of Staunton; a sister, Frances Riley of Covington; three half-brothers, Carl Lee and Eugene Moats, bother of Staunton, and Clarence Fred Moats of Woodbridge; and a number of grandchildren.

A service will be conducted 2 p.m. Tuesday at McKendree Cemetery near McDowell by the Rev. Lester LaPrade.

Pallbearers will be Roy Lee Simmons, Junior Bryant, Roland Wayne, Donald Lee and Gary Moats, Ralph Jackson and Neil Smith.
