Wilmer Smith

Wilmer Junior Smith, age 68, of Verona, passed away Monday, April 13, 2015 at home surrounded by family and friends. He was born January 31, 1947 in McDowell, a son of the late Wilmer Carl and Irene (Ober) Smith.

Mr. Smith was a member of Verona United Methodist Church and had retired from Virginia Department of Transportation after 25 years of service. He will be remembered as a man that found no greater enjoyment than simply spending time with friends and his beloved family.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Smith was preceded in death by two brothers, Donald Lee "Duck" Smith, and Larry Wayne Smith; as well as sisters, Nancy C. Floyd, and Patricia Ann Smith.

Surviving family members include his wife of 44 years, Corieta Lee (Moats) Smith of Verona; two daughters and sons-in-law, Lori Ann and Kirk Wagner of Bridgewater, and Amy Michelle and O.J. Crickenberger of Waynesboro; grandchildren, Megan and Holly Wagner, and Leah and Dalton Crickenberger; sisters, Susan Simmons and husband, Dennis of Blue Grass and Yvonne Smith and companion, Roy Kisamore of Churchville; numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

A memorial service will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, April 18, 2015 at Verona United Methodist Church with Pastors Bob Weeks and Jeff Allen officiating.
