Willie Louise (Pence) Simmons, 96, of Blue Grass, died Friday morning, July 10, 1998, at Bridgewater Nursing Home.

She was born on July 6, 1902, at Rockingham County, a daughter of Silas Peter and Eula Lee (Newman) Pence.

She married Luther Compton Simmons, who preceded her in death.

She was a member of the Blue Grass United Methodist Church, Highland County Senior Citizens, a lifetime member of Blue Grass Ruritan Club, Blue Grass Extension Club, a craft coordinator and a switchboard operator.

She is survived by two daughters, Carlotte Schooler of Blue Grass and Nancy Swecker of Monterey; four sons, Luther C. "Jack" Jr. and E. Douglas of Verona, Carl Lee of Blue Grass and K.K. Simmons of Monterey; seven grandchildren; one step-grandson; eight great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Newman Pence.

A service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Monday at Blue Grass United Methodist Church by the Revs. Jack Schooler, Joe Bradford and Richard Gibson with burial at Blue Grass Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Wilton and Stuart Simmons, Benjamin, Charles and Lucas Schooler and Don Ferrel.

Honorary pallbearers will be Olin and Kerry Sponaugle, William C. , Kenton and Eugene Rexrode, James and Robert Marshall Jr., Bardon Warner, Julian and Bruce Folks, Buddy and Meade Swecker Jr., Austin Shepherd, Dr. Thaine Billingsley, Ellwood Crick, Alec Burton, Kenny Leonard, Tony Stinnett, Olin Waybright and Highland Senior Citizens.

Friends may call at Obaugh Funeral Home or at the home of any of her children.
