William “Randolph” Moats, 67, of Baltimore and formerly of McDowell, died Wednesday, June 1, 2005 at Franklin Square Hospital Center in Baltimore.
He was born June 30, 1937 in Highland County, a son of the late John Floyd and Mattie Emma Simmons Moats.
Mr. Moats was a self-employed contractor.
He was preceded in death by a son, Billy Moats; seven brothers, Luther, Grover, Bob, Ed, John, Gene and Floyd Moats and a sister, Mattie Moats.
He is survived by two daughters, Patty Moats of Baltimore and Linda Swartzendruder of Broadway, Va.; a sister, Mabel Hatcher of McDowell, Va.; a brother, Rembert Moats of Joppa; a step-daughter, Sandy Meadows of Baltimore and special friends, Howard Kelley, Rodger Propst and Rossevelt Douglas.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m., Sunday, June 5, 2005 at Obaugh Funeral Home by the Rev. Dave Boger.
Burial will be in the McKendree Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Howard Kelley, Rodger Propst, Cecil Moats, Rudolph Siron, Delmas Moats, Junior Moats and Tommy Hatcher.
Honorary pallbearers will be friends attending the service.
The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m., Saturday at the funeral home.
