William Howard Puffenbarger, 84, of Hightown, died on Wednesday, January 15, 1997 at Rockingham Memorial Hosptial.
He was born on September 17, 1912 at Lone Fountain, a son of Albie and Sadie (Simmons) Puffenbarger.
He was a farmer and a member, superintendent and trustee of Union Chapel United Methodist Church.
His wife, Mary Geneva Mauzy, died on Dec. 12, 1979.
Surviving are a son Dareld Puffenbarger of Hightown; two sisters Marie P. Rexrode of Hightown and Anna Margaret Axel of Venics, Fla.; brother, CI Puffenbarger of Hightown; three grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
A service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at Union Chapel Church by the Revs. Richard Gibson and Joe Bradford, with burial at Union Chapel Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Herman Puffenbarger, June Rexrode, Charlie, Bill, Jack and Larry Mauzy and Roy Gutshall.
Honorary pallbearers will be friends attending the service.
The family will receive friends from 7-9 this evening at the funeral home.
