William Floyd Hatcher, 82, died Monday, April 5, 1999 at his residence.
He was born August 9, 1916, at Highland County, a son of Hames and Mary (Siron) Hatcher.
He made his home with Addison and Jemima Crummett. He was a member of Hiner Church of the Brethren. He retired in 1978 from the State Highway Department after 43 years of service.
On October 13, 1934, he married Clara “Marie” Snyder, who survives.
Also surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Jean and Jake Simmons and Joyce and Howard Kelley, all of McDowell; a son and daughter-in-law, Robert D. “Bud” and Judy Hatcher of Waynesboro; a sister, Nellie Malcolm of Roanoke; nine grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson.
A service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Thursday at the Crummett Family Cemetery by the Revs. Lennie Stinnett and Charles W. Townsend.
Friends may call at the residence. There will be no public viewing.
