William "Billy" Steven Stuart

William “Billy” Steven Stuart, age 70, of Head Waters, passed away Wednesday, January 22, 2025 at his home.

He was born February 10, 1954 at King’s Daughters Hospital in Staunton, a son of the late Weldon Allen and Laura Alice (Kiracofe) Stuart.

Recently retired, Billy had been employed by Kjellstrom and Lee Construction Company. During his employment in the Staunton and Augusta County area, he was involved in the construction of many buildings including the Dupont Community Credit Union Building, along with many of the new buildings located at James Madison University. He enjoyed time spent cooking and baking—his specialty being sour dough bread—as well as working in the garden raising home-grown tomatoes. Among his many interests were listening to music, reading western novels, attending auctions, and simply being outdoors where he enjoyed watching and feeding the wildlife.

In addition to his parents, predeceased family members include his paternal grandparents, Allen and Josephine Stuart; and maternal grandparents, Jesse Booker and Viola (Botkin) Kiracofe; his brother, Phillip Allen Stuart; and his sister, Deborah Kay Stuart Miller.

The ones left to cherish his memory are his sons, Nicholas “Nick” Stuart of Staunton and Dean Stuart Lovegrove of Alabama; his grandson, Colin Ross Stuart of Staunton, whom he loved dearly and proudly spoke of in conversation; a brother, James “Jim” Stuart of Staunton; aunt, Myrtle (Kiracofe) Hoover and husband, Gernon of Sugar Grove, WV; along with numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

A graveside memorial service will be held 1 p.m., Monday, May 5, 2025 in Head Waters Cemetery with Pastor Paul Schafer officiating.
