Westley Eugene Roberts, 68, of Burnsville, passed away Thursday, April 11, 2024 at his home surrounded by family.
He was born March 1, 1956, a son of the late Richard “Ritchie” Dale and Twila Jane (Burns) Roberts.
A great carpenter, Westley had worked as a carpenter at The Homestead for many years prior to starting his own business, and he was a shade tree mechanic in his spare time. He had a mind like a steel trap, and prided himself as being a local historian. Westley enjoyed hunting with hounds, deer hunting, and playing rook. He was well known in the Burnsville community for giving nicknames to his friends. Above all, he will be remembered as the “kindest, most-loving fella” you would ever meet, who loved his family and grandbabies dearly, and provided unconditional love to his children.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Michael Wayne Roberts; and mother of his grandchildren, Tabby Avis.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Debra Mae (Moats) Roberts of Burnsville; daughter, Shelly “Mary Lou” Roberts (Ray “Razor”) of Burnsville; son, Jayme “Bubba” Roberts (Kaylen “K.K.”) of Burnsville; grandchildren, Easton “E.E.” and Dalton “Dcoy” Roberts, Kendall “Ken Ken”, McKenna “Angel Baby” and Kason “Wildman” Huffman; brother, Richard "Sam" Roberts of Burnsville; sisters, Donna “Susie” Hickman of Burnsville, Dawn Rubio of Mexico and Crystal Roberts of Burnsville; special friends, Chad “Chaddy Buck” Wilfong and his health care provider, Kim Rexrode, who he thought so highly of; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A graveside service will be held 11 a.m., Monday, April 15, 2024 in Burnsville Cemetery with Pastor Bill Gram officiating.
Active pallbearers will be Chad Wilfong, Stephen Nelson, Justin Kellison, Michael Roberts, Devin “Button Eye” Duncan, and James Thompson.
The staff of Obaugh Funeral Home will receive family and friends wishing to pay their respects between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m., Sunday, April 14th at Obaugh Funeral Home in McDowell, Va.
