Walter "Ralph" Gutshall

August 6, 1913 — July 4, 1999

Walter “Ralph” Gutshall, 85, died Sunday evening, July 4, 1999 at the Springs Nursing Center.

He was born August 6, 1913 at Vanderpool, a son of Walter Preston and Ardelia (Carpenter) Gutshall.

He married Goldie Cathern Selmon November 1, 1947. He was owner and operator of Gutshall’s Gulf in McDowell for 24 years.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the Pacific Theater.

He is survived by his wife, Goldie Gutshall, of McDowell; a daughter, Kathy Marie Gutshall of McDowell; a son, Ivan Judy Gutshall of McDowell; a granddaughter, Carmen Hill of Churchville; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Obaugh Funeral Home by the Rev. Jerry Ginn. Burial will be in Monterey Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Ray Botkin, Louie Smith, Carl Lee Simmons, James Ralston, Roger L. Mack and Dale Beverage.

Honorary pallbearers will be friends attending the service.

The family will receive friends 7-9 this evening at the funeral home.
