Walker Wilfong

Walker Ervin Wilfong, 96, of Hightown died Saturday, March 29, 2003 at Oak Hill Center in Staunton. He was born May 12, 1906 at Hightown a son of the late Wesley Howard and Martha Jane Simmons Wilfong.

Mr. Wilfong was a farmer. He was a member of the Pisgah Presbyterian Church.

He was the last member of his immediate family.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys Lillian Wimer Wilfong; a daughter, Beatrice Bovis; a son, Eugene Wilfong; a sister, Geneva Marshall and two brothers Woodrow and Cecil Wilfong.

He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Robert H. and Joyce D. Wilfong of Staunton; two grandchildren, Dawn Smith of Salem and Hank Bovis of Fairfax and a son-in-law, H. Eugene Bovis of Fairfax.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m., Tuesday, April 1, 2003 at Obaugh Funeral Home by the Rev. Kathryn Hull and Rev. James W. “Bill” Moore.

Burial will be at the Wilfong Family Cemetery in Hightown.

Active pallbearers will be Bob Morrison, James and Everett Marshall, Doug Rexrode, Scott Wilfong, Jacob Hevener, Paul Simmons and Jerry Hevener.

Honorary pallbearers will be friends attending the service.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
