MONTEREY, VA Virginia Mae Puffenbarger, 82, of Forks of the Water passed away, Wednesday, April 17, 2013 at Pendleton Manor in Franklin, WV. She was born September 19, 1930 at Forks of the Water a daughter of the late Pinkney Melvin and Margie Janet (Strathy) Mullenax. Mrs. Puffenbarger was the valedictorian at Blue Grass High School class of 1949 and member of the former Forks of the Water United Brethren Church, where she served as Sunday school teacher and superintendent for many years. Mrs. Puffenbarger was a homemaker, who dedicated her life to rearing her children and caring for her family. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, W. Dale Puffenbarger, whom she married April 23, 1950; daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl and Bobby Vandevander of McDowell; son and daughter-in-law, Alan and Darlene Puffenbarger of Forks of the Water; grandson, Robert Dale Vandevander and wife, Dorothy of Monterey and granddaughter, Renee Vandevander of McDowell. A graveside memorial service will be conducted 2 p.m., Sunday, April 21, 2013 in the Blue Grass Cemetery with the Rev. Andre Crummett officiating. Honorary Pallbearers will be Jon Swecker, Olin Waybright, Pat Hull, Junior Kimble, Bo Folks and Roger Arbogast.
