Virgil Ray Wimer, 76, of Blue Grass, died Thursday, December 16, 1999 at Bath Community Hospital.
He was born May 17, 1923 at Blue Grass, the son of Ambrose and Blanche (Fox) Wimer.
He married Josephine B. Lantz on February 18, 1944.
He was a retired farmer.
He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, a sister, two half-brothers and a half-sister.
He is survived by his wife, Josephine Wimer of Blue Grass; two daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia and Rodger Propst of Monterey and Sandra and Johnny Simmons of Blue grass; three sons and daughters-in-law, Virgil L. and Linda C. Wimer and Larry and Linda L. Wimer and Lanny and Janet Wimer, all of Blue Grass; two sisters, Glenna Colaw of Blue Grass and Gretta Gum of Waynesboro; a half sister, Evelyn Harper of Ohio; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
A service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday at Obaugh Funeral Home in McDowell by the Revs. A. Stanley Kile and Stephanie Wilson. Burial will be in Blue Grass Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be grandsons, Tim and David Wimer, J.M. Simmons, Kirk Propst, Jess Hupman, Chris Humphries and Jason Wilkerson.
Honorary pallbearers will be the granddaughters Angie Wilkerson, Amy Humphries, Abby Wimer, Chantell Hupman, Missy Simmons and Kim Wimer.
The family will receive friends at the residence and at the funeral home.
