Vernie M. Bussard, 96, died Wednesday morning, March 10, 1993 at bath County Community Hospital.
She was born February 10, 1897 at Sugar Grove, WV, a daughter of the late Peter and Maria Miller. In 1924, she married Eutis W. Bussard, who died Nov. 20, 1957.
She was a member of Valley bethel Church of the Brethren, the Women's Fellowship and the Big Valley Extension Homemakers Club for 50 years.
Survivors include three daughters, Irva Smith, Lennis Lockridge and Lenna Carroll, all of Staunton; a son, Ward M. Bussard of Mustoe; a sister, Nannie Jordan of Bridgewater Home; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; as well as daughter-in-law, Thelma Bussard of Bolar, with whom she lived before going to the nursing home.
She was preceded in death by a son, Dale Bussard, on Feb. 28, 1993.
A service will be conducted 11 Friday at Obaugh Funeral Home by the Rev. Steve Mason and James Wiley, with burial in Valley Bethel Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Ray Pitsenbarger, Eugene Bussard, Lowell Terry, Roy Gutshall, Garland Carpenter and Blane Ruckman.
Memorials may be made to the Highland Rescue Squad, PO Box 268. Monterey, Va. 24465.
