Thurman "Fuzz" Wilson

December 18, 1921 — May 23, 2006

Thurman Otis “Fuzz” Wilson, age 84, of 331 Cedar Green Rd, Staunton, died Tuesday, May 23, 2006 at Augusta Medical Center.  He was born December 18, 1921 in Williamsville, a son of the late Herman Lee and Secil May (Wright) Wilson.

On January 21, 1947, he married Catherine Malone.

Mr. Wilson was a retired bus driver, for the City of Staunton.  He was a member of Community United Methodist Church, VFW Post #7814, the AARP and a lifetime member of Swoope Volunteer Fire Department.  He sang with “Men of Zion”.  Mr. Wilson served in the U.S. Army during WWII.

He was preceded in death by a son, Earl Lee Wilson on October 18, 2003.

He is survived by his wife, Catherine Wilson, five sons, Carl Wilson and wife, Vickie; Lewis Wilson and wife, Sharon; Charles Wilson and Crystal Fisher; Ralph Wilson and wife, Kimberly and Eric Strother Wilson, all of Staunton; twelve grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; a special caretaker, Chester Perry and a number of nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m., Saturday, May 27, 2006 at Community United Methodist Church by the Dr. John A. Fisher.  Interment will be in Oak Lawn Memory Gardens.

Active pallbearers will be Joslyn “Mokie” Wilson, Lionel Davenport, Joe Hunter, Chuck Berry, John Maddox, Curtis Smith, Eugene Vaughn, Jr., and Buster Lovegrove.  Honorary pallbearers will be the VFW Post #7814, Men of Zion and other friends attending the service.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Obaugh Funeral Home in McDowell
