ORANGE, VA Thomas E. Robertson, 67, went to be with Lord, Tuesday, September 8, 2015, in Bath County. He was born April 1, 1948 the son of the late Charles and Inez Robertson. He is survived by his loving wife, Kathleen Sommers Robertson; his daughter, Christine Carter; two granddaughters, Colette & Hypatia Carter; sister, Charlotte and her husband, Phil Lucas; two nephews, Matthew and Charles Lucas; and his stepmother, Lena Sheets Robertson. He also leaves behind a brother-in-law, Richard Sommers and his wife, Cindy and two sisters-in-law, Deborah Nicholson and her husband, Tom; and Susan Cornwell and her husband, Mike. As well as, many loving nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. Tom graduated from Wilson Memorial H.S. in 1966 and graduated with honors as an Electrical Engineer from Virginia Tech. Among many awards Tom received for his service to his country, the Knowlton Award (Bestowed upon individuals with the highest standards of integrity, moral character, professional competence and Selflessness) this is the highest military intelligence recognition awarded to those who serve in the military intelligence community. He was a Program Manager of many United States Department of the Army Programs. His peers recognized him as one of the most effective program managers supporting the United States Army's, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance programs. Tom was an avid angler and hunter with a passion for enjoying wildlife, at his cabin on the Bullpasture River. He will be sorely missed by his loving pups, Scrappy and Chance. A memorial service will be conducted 2 p.m. Saturday, October 17, 2015 at Novum Baptist Church, 1629 Novum Church Road, Reva, VA with the Rev. Jeff Light officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Thomas E. Robertson can be sent to the Burnsville Rescue Squad, 8601-B Muddy Run Rd, Williamsville, VA 24487 (C/O Betty Alexander).
