Thelma Mullenax Mullenax, 93, of Staunton and formerly of Blue Grass, died Saturday, March 29, 2003 at Bridgewater Retirement Home.
She was born October 10, 1909 at Blue Grass a daughter of the late Henry Walter and Mamie Katherine Collins Mullenax.
On June 2. 1937, she married Ray Mullenax.
Mrs. Mullenax was a member of the Union Chapel United Methodist Church and a Sunday school teacher. She attended Madison College. She taught in one room schoolhouses in Highland County and was a homemaker. She belonged to the United Methodist Women’s Society.
She was the last member of her immediate family.
She was preceded in death by four brothers, Fred, Joe, Ben and John Mullenax and five sisters, Esta Hoover, Mona Hammer, Gladys Swecker, Geneva Fox and Edith Mullenax.
She is survived by her husband, Ray Mullenax of Bridgewater Retirement Home; two daughters, Phyllis M. McKee of Charlottesville and Harriet M. Cox and her husband, Fred of Mt. Sidney; two sons, Glenn W. Mullenax of Powhatan and James M. Mullenax of Staunton; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be conduct at 11 a.m., Wednesday, April 2, 2003 at Obaugh Funeral Home by the Rev. Don Long.
Burial will be in the Union Chapel Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Seth Smith, David and Nathan McKee, Bob Rexrode, Arlen Breeden, Harry Swecker and Donald Mullenax.
Honorary pallbearers will be nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.
