Sylvia Woods

Sylvia Woods, 84, of Hot Springs, died on Thursday, January 29, 1998 at Springs Nursing Center.

She was born on April 19, 1913, at Highland County, a daughter of Alvie and Pearlie (Doyle) Leary.

On August 21, 1935, she was married to Jennings L. Woods.

She was a homemaker and a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church.

In addition to her husband, Jennings L. Woods of Hot Springs, surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Anna Mae and Henry Baker of Millboro; two sons and daughters-in-law, Kyle and Mary Ann Woods of Rockport, Texas, and Lewis and Brenda Woods of Hot Springs; a brother and sister-in-law, Connell and Elizabeth Leary of Hot Springs; 10 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a great-granddaughter and three brothers, Jim, Kenton and Lewie Leary.

A service will be conducted at 3 p.m. on Monday at Hamilton Chapel Church by the Rev. Garland Humphries, with burial in the church cemetery.

Pallbearers will be David Tuttal, Jackie Leary, Ray Rodgers, Patrick Shifflett, Samuel Ray, Dale Pauley, Dale Brinkley and Jimmy Woods.

Honorary pallbearers will be friends attending the service.

The family will receive friends frim 7-8:30 p.m. on Sunday at Obaugh Funeral Home.
