Steven Harold Terry, 57, of Monterey, died Friday at the University of Virginia Medical Center after a 10-year fight with cancer.
He was born May 21, 1942, at Mustoe, a son of Mabel Virdelia (Hiner) and H.H. Benny Terry.
He married Dorothy Shubert on August 31, 1990.
He was an electronics engineer and a disc jockey for the local radio station. He was a member of the Monterey Presbyterian Church, the Monterey Lions Club and the Highland Lodge No. 110 AF & AM. He attended Madison College and King College in Bristol, Tenn., and served in the Air Force.
He was preceded in death by his father on June 26, 1982.
Survivors include his wife; his mother; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Bertha Jo and Don Caruthers of Leesburg and Donna and Mike Bedwell of Orange County; and four nieces, Erin Bedwell of Boone, N.C., Miranda Bedwell of Charlottesville, Robyn Fant of Nashville, Tenn., and Kim Alexander of Raleigh, N.C.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday at the Monterey Presbyterian Church by the Rev. James W. Moore and the Rev. C. William Cox.
Burial will be at the Monterey Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Randy Richardson, John Lohr, Wickie Hooke, Tom Wilson, Tom Botkin, Chris Kodger, Mike Bedwell and Don Caruthers.
Honorary pallbearers will be cousins, friends, WVLS radio station DJs, members of the Monterey Lions Club and members of the Masonic Lodge.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 this evening at Obaugh Funeral Home and at other times at the home of Mabel Terry.
