Steven “Steve” Edward Cale, 79, of Cross Junction, greatly blessed by the Lord with a long life, good health and sound mind, passed away, Tuesday, December 26, 2023 at Winchester Medical Center.

He was born July 6, 1944 in Baltimore, MD, and was further blessed with many people including Daniel and Ann Clemons and Don and Margaret Buchanan, who stepped in and acted as parents after Steve was taken from a broken home and placed in foster care at the age of six.

He was the loving father of Tiffany, Courtney, Shannon, Carleigh and Daniel; and loving grandfather of Rory, Max, Ruby, Sam, Avi and Shiloh. In addition to his family, Steve loved football, golf, photography, Amstel Light and his old BMWs.

A brother, Jerry Lashua; niece, Kate Worley and nephews, Shane Worley, Seth Scheer and Jack Scheer also survive.

He was predeceased by his brother, David; and sisters, Peggy and Betty.

He was member of the 1963 class of Loudoun County High School in Leesburg, where he attended through his junior year until he transferred to George Wythe High in Wytheville, where he graduated. He attended Wofford College on a football scholarship. A U.S. Army Veteran, Steve served from June 1965 to June 1968. He then had a 40-year career in technology sales and management. After his retirement, Steve volunteered at the Redland United Methodist Church Outreach Center for many years.

A graveside service will be held 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, January 3, 2024 in Southwest Virginia Veterans Cemetery, Dublin, Va.
