Stanley M. Mitchell, 74, of Staunton, died Monday morning, January 20, 1992 at Maple Haven Nursing Home in Stuarts Draft.
He was born December 20, 1917 at Head Waters, a son of Gilbert and Lillie (Armstrong) Mitchell.
On September 25, 1976 he married Cleo H. Coursey, who survives.
He was a member of Head Waters Presbyterian Church and treasurer of the Heat Waters Cemetery,
Mitchell was a livestock farmer and a sawmill owner and operator in Highland County before moving to Staunton.
He served in the Army-Air Force during World War II and was a member of Sugar Grove VFW Post.
In addition to his wife, survivors include two stepdaughters, Charlene Beach of Grottoes and Bonnie Duncan of Sarasota, FL; two sisters, Mary Campbell of New Home and Joy Smith of Head Waters; brother, Eugene Mitchell of Head Waters; eight step-grandchildren; and nine step-great-grandchildren.
A service will be conducted 11 a.m. Wednesday at Obaugh Funeral Home by the Revs. DeLacy Young and Jay Luther, with burial in Head Waters Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Bruce and Blane Coursey, Jeff Beach, Gary Campbell, Johnny Smith, Jim Madder, Glen McMullin and Kyle and Brent Obaugh.
