Sr. Harold Simmons

DAYTON, VA Harold D. Simmons, Sr., 79, of Dayton passed away Saturday, August 2, 2014 at his home. He was born March 5, 1935 in Pendleton County, WV a son of the late Clyde Ollie and Sarah (Varner) Simmons. Mr. Simmons had worked at Virginia Poultry Groups in Hinton. He was a big fan of country and blue grass music, NASCAR, monster trucks and tractors pulls. Mr. Simmons was an animal lover and will be missed riding around on his moped. He was preceded in death by his son, Michael Simmons; two grandsons, Derrick Mullenax and Skylar Reedy and brother, Melvin Simmons. He is survived by six daughters and sons-in-law, Wanda and Steve Warner of Petersburg, WV, Debra Nelson of Harrisonburg, Sharon and Richard Mullenax of Blue Grass, Patty and John Seabolt of Franklin, WV, Betty L. Simmons of Franklin, WV and Kimberly Smith of Harrisonburg; son, Harold, Jr. "Lucky" and Brenda Simmons of Dayton; fourteen grandchildren and twenty one great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m., Wednesday, August 6, 2014 at Obaugh Funeral Home with the Rev. Andre Crummett officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Grass Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be L.J. Foley, Matthew Simmons, J.W. Tidd, Jr., Lucas Alexander, Kermit Redman, Mark Cobb and Gary Strawderman, Jr. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday at Obaugh Funeral Home.
