Shirley Ann Smith, 64, died Wednesday evening, September 22, 1999, at her home.

She was born September 2, 1935 at Damascus, Maryland, a daughter of Arthur W. and Thelma M. (Haney) Beall.

She married David C. Smith on June 20, 1953. She was a homemaker and partner in the family construction business. She was a member of Hiner Brethren Church, A member of the Women’s Council of the National Association of Homebuilders, a member of the Eastern Star, Prudence Chapter at Mount Airy, Maryland.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Roby L. and James L. Beall.

She is survived by her husband, David Clark Smith of McDowell, past president of the National Association of Homebuilders; two sons, Larry C. and Laura S. Smith of Berkeley Springs, W.Va. and Gary L. and Meoldy V. Smith of Monrovia, Maryland; five grandchildren, Danelle, Kevin and Steven Smith of Berkeley Springs, W.Va. and Lee and Brett Smith Monrovia, Maryland; two brothers, Kenneth of Iowa Park, Texas, and the Rev. Alan Beall of Sterling; and nieces and nephews.

A service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at Obaugh Funeral Home by the Revs. Garold Senger and Alan Beall, with burial in Monterey Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Robert Nash, Garner Smith, Dan Beall, Wayne Stevens, Robert Chandler, Wayne Ownby, Don Perry and Charles Varner.

Honorary pallbearers will be friends attending the service.

The family will receive friends from 7-9 tonight at the funeral home.
