Sherry Doody

Sherry Hammer Doody, 47, went to be with our Lord on Dec. 4, 2012.
She was born on April 28, 1965.
She is survived by her husband of 21 years, Daniel Joseph Doody; three children, Casey, Caleb and Emma; her father, John Ralph Hammer of Monterey; sister, Carol Swecker and brother-in-law Jesse Swecker, and their children, Benjamin and Caitlin, of Maidens. She is also survived by her brothers in-law, Mike Doody of Saint Johns, Mich., Pat Doody and Dennis Doody, both of Laingsburg, Mich., and John Doody of Lansing, Mich.; and sister-in-law, Margery Wirth of Westphalia, Mich.; cousins, Angela Crigler of Monterey, Pam Hoffman of Staunton, Jay Miller Gutshall of Richmond, and Karla Obaugh of McDowell; and many other relatives.
Sherry was a wonderful wife, sister, mother, daughter and friend. Many people loved her dearly. She was an incredibly generous person and devoted 23 years of her life to nursing in the Neuroscience ICU at VCU Medical Center. Sherry will never be forgotten.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 6 at the Parham Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1771 N. Parham Road, Richmond. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 7, at Saint Mary’s Catholic Church in Richmond.
The family will receive friends again from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 7 at Obaugh Funeral Home, in McDowell.
A graveside service will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 8, at Monterey Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts in Sherry’s memory may be made to the Sherry Doody Memorial Fund for MS, c/o Wells Fargo Bank.
