Sharon Kay Hayes

Sharon Kay Hayes, 68, of Staunton, passed away Friday, August 11, 2023 at Shenandoah House in Fishersville.

She was born March 28, 1955, a daughter of Norma June (Armstrong) and William Albert Webb.

A faithful member of Heaven’s Golden Gates Church, Sharon loved reading her Bible and watching religious broadcasting throughout the day.  She also enjoyed puzzles and crocheting blankets. Above all, she will be remembered as a selfless person with a kind heart and one who placed her faith in Christ above all else.

She was predeceased by her father, William Web, who passed at a young age; her step-father, Donald Slawson, who she considered her dad; a brother, William “Billy” Albert Webb, Jr; as well as three grandchildren.

Surviving family members include her husband, Gary Hayes of Staunton; three daughters, Norma Musick and husband, Terry of North Carolina, Brenda Reese and Angel Bryant, both of Staunton; three sons, William Bryant and wife, Jennifer of Staunton; Shawn Serenas and wife, Brittany of Moorefield, WV, and Joshua McCray and wife, Carolyn of Staunton; her mother, Norma June (Armstrong) Slawson of Staunton; brother, Donnie Slawson and wife, Denise of Deerfield; sisters, Karen Painter and husband, Rodney of Grottoes and Crystal Slawson of Staunton; 20 grandchildren; as well as great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held 11 a.m., Tuesday, August 15, 2023 at Obaugh Funeral Home with Pastor Golden Clark Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Armstrong Family Cemetery, 84 Armstrong Lane, Doe Hill.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Active pallbearers will be Donnie Slawson, Terry Musick, Austin Musick, William Bryant, Joshua McCray, Shawn Serenas, Mike Capiccioni and Rodney Painter.
