Samuel "Ralph" Rexrode

May 31, 1919 — December 7, 2009

Samuel “Ralph” Rexrode, 90, of Staunton and formerly of Monterey, died Monday, December 7, 2009 at Augusta Health.  He was born May 31, 1919 in Highland County, a son of Floyd and Lilly Mae (Wimer) Rexrode.

Mr. Rexrode attended The Church of God of Prophecy and was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII. He was a farmer and had worked for Bath County Pumped Storage Project and the State Highway Department.  Ralph was a regular customer at High’s Restaurant.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Herbert, Roscoe and Carl Rexrode and two sisters, Eva Puffenbarger and Maggie Wagner.

He is survived by a daughter, Sharon F. Nelson of Staunton; a granddaughter, Sheila Nelson of Weyers Cave; a brother, Delmar “Buddy” Rexrode of Staunton; a sister, Wanda Carroll of Mill Gap and a special friend, David Rowe.

A graveside service will be conducted at 1 p.m., Friday, December 11, 2009 at Bowers Cemetery, Possum Trot Rd near Monterey, with the Rev. Darren Massey officiating.

Friends may call from 11 a.m. to noon, Friday at Obaugh Funeral Home in McDowell.
