Samuel Austin Whitecotton, 81, of Blue Grass died on Friday morning, February 5, 1993 at his residence.
He was born on May 10, 1911 in Highland County, a son of Saul and Jane (Simmons) Whitecotton.
On March 6, 1946 he married Lillian Wagner who survives.
He attended Forks of the Water United Brethren Church. He retired from the Virginia Highway Department after 30 years of employment.
An Army veteran of World War II, he served in the Pacific Theater.
In addition to his widow, he survived by a son, Larry Whitecotton of Blue Grass; two sisters, Ethel Green of Hot Springs and Sallie Mines of Lyndhurst; a brother, Cecil Whitecotton of Old Field, WV; and two grandchildren, Travis and Karen Whitecotton.
A service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at Obaugh Funeral Home by Levin Coulbourn, with burial at Blue Grass Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Benny Colaw, Harold Newman, Robert Marshall Jr., Dale Gum, Harold Arbogast, Arnold Vandevander and Dale Puffenbarger.
