Ruth S. Stevens, 87, of Staunton and formerly of McDowell, died Wednesday, January 24, 2007 at Ruxton Health Care. She was born January 21, 1920 in Boise, Idaho a daughter of Ernest M. and Emma Alice (Paschal) Staley.
Mrs. Stevens attended Doe Hill United Methodist Church. She was a member of the United Methodist Women and the church choir. She was a homemaker and seamstress.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Franklin Thomas Gosser; her second husband, Philip A. Stevens; three brothers and four sisters.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Marilyn G. and Lee W. Blagg of Doe Hill; three sons and two daughters-in-law, David Franklin and Barbara Gosser of LaPine, OR; A. Thomas and Lori Gosser of Sterling, CO and Donald Rae Gosser of Houston, TX; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Carrol Diehm of Cedar Rapids, IA and Rachael Bigley of California and a number of nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m., Saturday, January 27, 2007 at Obaugh Funeral Home in McDowell by the Rev. Dave Boger. Burial will be in Doe Hill Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Matthew and Adam Blagg, Kenny Hodges, Steve Botkin, Lynn Pullin and Gary Simmons. Honorary pallbearers will be the United Methodist Women.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
