Ruth Simmons

Ruth Linda Simmons, 69, of Sugar Grove, WV, died Sunday, October 12, 2008 at Kindred Hospital in Richmond. She was born June 18, 1939 in Highland County, a daughter of the late Kenneth Blair and Mary Josephine (Splaun) Wright. On September 23, 1961, she married William Howard Simmons.
Mrs. Simmons was a homemaker. She was a member of the Crummett Run Church of the Brethren, a 1957 graduate of Monterey High School and a former member of the VFW Post #9666 Ladies Auxiliary.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Nelson Wright.
She is survived by her husband, William Simmons of Sugar Grove; a daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Mark Lambert of Bridgewater; a granddaughter, Paige Nicole Lambert of Bridgewater; two sisters, Opal Alt of Williamsville and Nancy McCoy of Richmond; a brother, Marvin Wright of Verona; brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law and a number of nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m., Thursday, October 16, 2008 at Obaugh Funeral Home in McDowell with Pat Godfrey and the Rev. Jerry Smith officiating.
Burial will be in Crummett Run Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Dennis, Barry and Larry Simmons, Westley Fleisher, Kent Gardiner, Carlyle Whitelow, Nathan Propst and Dennis Bodkin. Honorary pallbearers will be friends attending the service.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
