Rumsey Teter

April 9, 1910 — August 13, 1999

Rumsey Teter, 89, of Bridgewater and formerly of Highland County, died Friday afternoon, August 13, 1999, at the home of his daughter, Ruby, in Head Waters.

He was born April 9, 1910 at Circleville, W.Va., a son of Ambrose and Annie Rebecca (Warner) Teter.

On August 25, 1929, he married Myrtle Kate Phares, who preceded him in death on December 26, 1980. He also was preceded in death by two sisters and three brothers.

He was a member of the Union Chapel United Methodist Church and a retired farmer.

Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Ethel and Elzie Grogg of Churchville and Ruby and W.G. Ervine of Head Waters; a nephew, Wayne Teter of Swoope, who was reared in the home; two grandchildren, Patsy Moyers of Mount Crawford and Raymond Grogg of Churchville; three step-grandchildren, Marcia Wiseman of Harrisonburg, Karen Botkin of Head Waters, Donna Golladay of Staunton; three great-grandchildren, Trina and Christopher Moyers of Mount Crawford and Robert Grogg of Churchville; six step-great-grandchildren, Heather and Todd Wiseman of Harrisonburg, Adam and Amber Botkin of Head Waters and Luke and Tyler Golladay of Staunton; and a number of nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Obaugh Funeral Home by the Revs. Richard S. Gibson. Burial will be at the North Fork memorial Cemetery in Riverton, W.Va.

Pallbearers will be Everett and Gary Showalter, Raymond, James and Richard Phares, Donnie Botkin and Timothy and Chad Teter.

Honorary pallbearers will be Alfred Armstrong, Carl Rhodes Jr., Adam Botkin, William C. Rexrode, Dareld, Herman and Ivan Puffenbarger, Nelson Simmons, Wayne Mallow, Roy Waggoner and Conley Coalw.

The family will receive friends from 7-9 tonight at Obaugh Funeral Home.
