Ruby Frances Whitelaw, 84, of Monterey, died Sunday, afternoon, August 22, 1993 at her home.
She was born September 20, 1908 at Burnsville, a daughter of Howard and Etta Eagle Smith.
On September 11, 1933, she married Eugene Whitelaw, who preceded her in death.
She was a member of the Monterey United Methodist Church. In her early life she worked for the Virginia Hot Springs Company and she later operated the Monterey switchboard.
She is survived by a daughter, Susan Murray of Brooklyn Park, MD; four sons, Robert, Donald and Fred Whitelaw, all of Monterey, and William Whitelaw of Baltimore, MD; one sister, Lucy Varner of Monterey; 12 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
A service will be conducted 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at Obaugh Funeral Home by the Revs. Robert Haley and Jerry Ginn. Burial will be in Monterey Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be John Whitelaw Jr., Jerry Hoover, Dempsie Hevener, Pete Puffenbarger, Douglas Varner and Houston Smith.
