Ruby Siron

November 1, 1915 — March 18, 2004

Ruby Gail Siron, 88, of Monterey, died Thursday, March 18, 2004 at her residence.

She was born November 1, 1915 at Elkins, W.Va., a daughter of the late Nathan Goff and Ora Wamsley Scott.

On October 15, 1949, she married Guy Leroy Siron.

Mrs. Siron was a member of the McDowell Presbyterian Church. She graduated from James Madison College with a BS in Elementary Education and worked on her Masters Degree at the University of Virginia. She taught in elementary grades in West Virginia and Virginia schools for 34 years. She retired from Waynesboro schools in 1977. Mrs. Siron was a life member of Virginia Education Association, the National Education Association, the Bath-Highland Teachers Association, a charter member of Col. James Patton Chapter of Daughters of American Revolution in Waynesboro and a former member of United Daughters of the Confederacy in West Virginia. In 1972, she was named to the Outstanding Elementary Teachers of America.

She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Ann Scott McCormick.

She is survived by her husband, Guy Siron of Monterey; a daughter, Mrs. David (Patricia) Bergsland of Los Lunas, NM; a granddaughter, Mrs. Keven (Elizabeth) Mock of Mankato, MN; two great-grandsons, Jacob and Dylon Mock and a brother, Nathan G. Scott of Orange, Fla.

A memorial service will be conducted at 7 p.m., Monday, March 22, 2004 at Obaugh Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m.

Burial will be at 11 a.m., Tuesday, March 23 at Monterey Cemetery.
