Ruby Grace Hinkle, 73, of Blue Grass, died Sunday, Jan. 30, 2011 at her home.
She was born Feb. 12, 1937 in Monterey, a daughter of the late Warren and Lucy Varner Hamrick.
She had worked at Aileen, Inc. and Hanover Shoe Co. She was an avid outdoors person and enjoyed gardening, especially flower gardening.
She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Jodie Will; four sisters; and a brother.
She is survived by her husband, Carroll “Bug” Hinkle Sr., whom she married on Aug. 15, 1956; two daughters and a sonin law, Donna and Joe Will of Blue Grass and Elsie Champ of Capon Bridge, W.Va.; a son, Bill Hinkle, and friend Sandy Moyers of Blue Grass; four grandchildren, Justin Will and wife Courtney, Tommy Champ and friend Heather, Wendy Cook and husband Billy, and Julie Hinkle; three great-grandchildren, Liberty and Madison Cook and Joseph K. Will; and a brother, June Hamrick of Dayton.
A funeral service will be conducted 1 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 3, at Obaugh Funeral Home in McDowell with Pastor Chip Hill officiating. Burial will be in Blue Grass Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Tommy Champ, Justin Will, Pat Hull, Larry Smith, Dalie Hinkle and Norman Strawderman. Honorary pallbearers will be friends attending the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Highland County Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 268, Monterey, Va. 24465.
