Roy Denver Kimble, Sr., 81, of Blue Grass, died Monday, August 10, 2009 at Grant Memorial Hospital. He was born March 27, 1928 at Landis, WV a son of the late Okey and Beulah Virginia (Alt) Kimble.
On October 5, 1948, he married Mary Virginia (Barkley) Kimble, who preceded him in death on April 14, 1991. He was also predeceased by a great-grandson, Trenton John Warner, a sister, M. Catherine Cook and two brothers, Charlie and Richard Kimble.
Mr. Kimble was a member of the Blue Grass United Methodist Church. He had been a truck driver for Lowry Logging Company and a U.S. Army veteran of WWII.
He enjoyed family get-togethers and reunions.
He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Barbara K. and Hal T. Warner of Blue Grass; a son and daughter-in-law, Roy D., Jr. and Linda Kimble of Blue Grass; three grandchildren, Chad Kimble, Tony Warner and Tara Warner; seven great-grandchildren, Haley and Sadie Warner, Lucas Mullenax, Mikie and Mary Kaytlin Lambert, Emily and Evan Kimble; two brothers, Marvin Kimble of Petersburg, WV and Harlan Kimble of Old Town, MD and a special friend, Marie Rexrode of Monterey.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m., Thursday, August 13, 2009 at Obaugh Funeral Home in McDowell with the Rev. Andre Crummett officiating. Burial will be in the Blue Grass Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Mike Marshall, Robert Marshall, Jr., Tony Warner, Chad Kimble, Mikie Lambert and Kenneth Barkley. Honorary pallbearers will be friends attending the service. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, August 12, 2009 at Obaugh Funeral Home.
