Ronald Malcolm

Ronald Thomas Malcolm, 69, of McDowell, died Monday, April 28, 2008 at Augusta Medical Center. He was born June 24, 1938 at Staunton a son of the late Claude Allen and Mildred Emily (Siron) Malcolm. On August 30, 1958, he married Darlene Sue Steele.
Mr. Malcolm suffered chronic illness most of his life, but operated the family farm until his retirement in 1994. He was an Elder in the McDowell Presbyterian Church.
He served four terms as a Highland County Supervisor and more than 25 years on the Highland County Planning Commission.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Joe Brown and Donald Malcolm and a sister, Dorothy Zaniewski.
He is survived by his wife, Darlene Sue Malcolm of McDowell; a daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Gene Newberry of Cape Coral, FL; a son and daughter-in-law, Drs. Joseph and Koressa Malcolm of McDowell and four grandchildren, Roy and Rachael Malcolm and Kalyn and Kaci Newberry.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m., Saturday, May 3, 2008 at McDowell Presbyterian Church by the Rev. Chris Scott and Rev. Lester LaPrade. Burial will be in McKendree Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Jerry Rexrode, R.D. Robinson, Gene Newberry, Darrell Leach, Richard Botkin and Richard Thompson. Honorary pallbearers will be friends attending the service. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, May 2, 2008 at Obaugh Funeral Home in McDowell.
The casket will be closed.
