Rodney Dale Redifer, age 73, of 501 Hankey Mountain Highway, Churchville, passed away Saturday, March 9, 2024 at Kings Daughters Community Health and Rehab in Staunton.
He was born on October 1, 1950, in Mt. Solon, son of the late Charles “Chuck” Leonard and Reba Pauline (Moneymaker) Redifer.
He was a graduate of Buffalo Gap High School and received several certifications in construction and real estate. His work within the construction industry spanned more than forty years. Rodney was an avid NASCAR fan, with Dale Earnhardt being his favorite driver. He also loved to attend truck and tractor pulls, time spent watching westerns and college basketball, snowmobiling with his son, as well as traveling and going out to eat. Always a kind and good-natured man, Rodney had a great sense of humor and could be counted on to approach problematic situations with a cool head and diplomatic approach. Above all, Rodney will be remembered for his hard work ethic, and as being a diligent provider to his son and family.
Surviving family members include his wife of 28 years, Mary Faye (Hevener) Redifer of Churchville; his son, Travis D. Redifer and wife, Shannon (Wright) of Galax; granddaughter, Casey Rae Redifer of Galax; stepdaughters, Dr. Christy Landes and husband, Dr. Stephan Link of Champaign, Illinois, and Julie (Landes) Driver and husband, Landon of Dayton; step granddaughter, Hayley Marshall of Staunton; brothers, Kenneth L. Redifer and wife Tyna of Ft. Defiance and Leonard R. “Bud” Redifer and wife, Alice of Mt. Solon; sister, Joyce (Redifer) Evers and husband, Franklin of Churchville; numerous nieces and nephews; and his beloved dog, Emmy Lou.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday, March 14, 2024 at Obaugh Funeral Home in McDowell with Rev. Warren Lee Knott officiating.
Following the service, the family will receive friends at the funeral home with refreshments.
