Robert “Bob” Tate Swecker, 67, of Monterey, died Wednesday, April 5, 2000, at his home.
He was born September 8, 1932, at Blue Grass, a son of Jennings Judy and Tate Sterrett Swecker.
He graduated from Blue Grass High School and V.P.I., served in the Army in Korea and was a member of the V.F.W. and of the Highland Baptist Church. He had been employed at Shen-Valley Meat Packing Co. at Timberville and spent most of his life in the livestock business.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Frances S. Crown.
Survivors include a daughter, Kimberly S. Clift of Harrisburg, N.C.; a son, Jesse J. Swecker of Maidens’ two grandchildren, Benjamin and Caitlin Swecker of Maidens; three brothers, Williams S. of Stuarts Draft, George R. Swecker of Monterey; James L. Swecker of Beckley, W.Va.; and two sisters, Betty S. Abbott of Dublin and Mary J. Riddick of Franklin.
A service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday at Blue Grass Cemetery by the Rev. Jerry Ginn.
