SERVICE CHANGE
MONTEREY Robert "Bob" Smith Shuttleworth, 100, of Monterey, passed away Tuesday, March 3, 2015 at Augusta Health. He was born November 23, 1914 in Harrison County, WV a son of the late Oliver Morton and Virginia (Anglin) Shuttleworth. Mr. Shuttleworth was employed with the Metropolitan Police Department of Washington, D.C. and retired a police inspector after 30 years of service. A man known to "keep busy", he went on to begin a second career as a livestock farmer, raising Black Angus cattle outside of Monterey. On May 6, 1953 he was raised to the degree of Master Mason in Arlington, VA and would go on to belong to the Almas Shriners, Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, as well as Highland Masonic Lodge #110. Mr. Shuttleworth served on the Highland County School Board from 1980 to 1992, chairing the board for 11 years. He was also a former member of the Monterey Lions Club, former Highland Farm Bureau Delegate, member of the Republican Party, Sons of the American Revolution, and the Monterey Presbyterian Church. Additionally, family and friends will remember Bob as an avid hunter, and square dancer. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Meigs (Frush) Shuttleworth on February 7, 1987; as well as his brother, Victor Shuttleworth. Surviving are three daughters, V. Ann Noel and husband, Paul of Sterling, VA; Margaret R. Shuttleworth of Fairfax, VA and Patricia L. Dove and husband, Vinton of Indianapolis, IN; three grandsons, Vinton Paul Dove and wife, Jocelyn of Nashville, TN; Robert Allen Dove of Indianapolis, IN and Christian Garet Noel of Leesburg, VA; four great-grandchildren, Zachary, Jason and Madisen Dove and Jackson Noel, and a number of nieces and nephews. A funeral service with Masonic rites will be conducted 2 p.m., Saturday, March 7, 2015 at Obaugh Funeral Home with the Rev. C. William "Bill" Cox and the Rev. Andre Crummett. Interment in Monterey Cemetery will be announced at a later date. Active pallbearers will be David Vandevander, Clifton Vandevander, Donnie Botkin, Jared Dever, Randy Richardson, Robin Sullenberger and Jerry Moats. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Highland Masonic Lodge #110. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday at Obaugh Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Highland County Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 268, Monterey, VA 24465 or Shriners Hospitals for Children, 2900 Rocky Point Dr., Tampa, FL 33607.
