Rita Esther Leach, 91, formerly of Williamsville, died Tuesday, December 24, 1996 at Augusta Medical Center.
She was born on July 18, 1905 at Deerfield, a daughter of Harmon Mustoe Armstrong and Almerta Jack.
She was a homemaker and attended Hamilton Chapel Advent Christian Church. She was an eight year resident of Oak Hill Nursing Home.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ervine S. Leach.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a son, Ervine Sale Leachl and three brothers, Wayman, Norman and Turman Armstrong.
Surviving are a daughter, Amelia Law of Covington; two sons, Johnnie I. and Lowell E. Leach of Waynesboro; four sisters, Alma Cook of Louisa, Amelia Hunt of Charlottesville, Phyllis Cox of Earlysville and Doris Clark of Dunnellon, Fl.; two brothers, Milton Lee of Stuarts Draft and Stanley H. Armstrong of Griffith, N.C.; seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
A service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday by the Rev. Frank Hall at Obaugh Funeral Home with burial in Hamilton Chapel Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Bobby and Eddie Leach, Allen Law, Forest Wood, Blaine Fitzgerald and Waldo Botkin.
Honorary pallbearers will be friends attending the service.
The family will receive friends from 7-8 this evening at the funeral home in McDowell and at other times at the residence of Johnnie Leach in Waynesboro.
