Richard C. Steele, 74, of Blue Grass, died Sunday morning, February 16, 1992 at Bath County Community Hospital.
He was born August 16, 1922 at Islesboro, Maine.
Mr. Steele was a wood carver 59 years. His carvings were featured in "Camptain's Courageouse," a made-for-T.V. movie. PBS "Virginia Currents" also featured and interviewed him in September 1996. His plaque "Man at the Helm" was presented by the State of Maine to President John F. Kennedy.
He is survived by his wife, Marianne Steele of Blue Grass; son, Mark Steel of Maine; brother, Carlton Steele of Nashua, N.H. and two grandsons.
The body was cremated. Obaugh Funeral Home handled arrangements.
