Richard Brown

MONTEREY, VA Richard William "Willie" Brown, age 29, of Monterey, passed away October 5, 2015 at his residence. He was born June 7, 1986 in Bluefield, West Virginia a son to Katherine Gibson and the late William Todd Brown. Willie was a graduate of Pendleton High School and was employed with Mountain View Lawn Service. In addition to his father he was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Gertrude Gibson; and paternal grandparents. Surviving are his loving mother, Katherine E. Gibson of Monterey; his uncle, John Gibson and wife, Penny of Powhatan; grandfather, Rev. Richard S. Gibson of Staunton; half-brother, Bradley T. Brown of Portsmouth; as well as a countless number of good friends. A funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m. Saturday, October 24, 2015 at Obaugh Funeral Home in McDowell with the Rev. C. William "Bill" Cox and Rev. Andre Crummett officiating. Interment will follow in Green Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery. Active pallbearers include John Gibson, Bradley Brown, Josh Brown, Kenny Nesselrodt, Justin Mitchell, Aaron King, Steven Fines, and Douglas Earling. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to charity of choice.
