Ressie V. Botkin, 88, of Verona, died Wednesday, December 13, 2000 at Kings Daughters Community Health and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born August 28, 1912 at Sugar Grove, W.Va., a daughter of Lee and Timily Simmons Puffenbarger.
Mrs. Botkin was a homemaker. She and her late husband owned and operated the Verona Diner. She was a member of the Bridgewater Church of the Brethren and a former member of the Crummett Run Church of the Brethren.
On March 10, 1934, she married Loyd F. Botkin, who preceded her in death on July 20, 1994. She was also preceded in death by two sons, Leo and Bobby Botkin; a brother, Ellis Puffenbarger; and a sister, Rella Smith.
She is survived by four daughters and sons-in-law, Frances and Robert Lerdahl of Madison, Wisc., Myrtle and Warren Washington of Mount Crawford, Kitty and William Coffey of Stuarts Draft, and Janet and Jerry Nance of Staunton; four sons and daughters-in-law, Stanley and Eva Botkin of Harrisonburg, Lee Botkin of Verona, Darhl and Ruth Botkin of Pleasant Valley, and Vernon and Juantia Botkin of Fulks Run; a granddaughter that she reared, Paula Fitzgerald; a sister, Ora Mae Snyder of Head Waters; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 15 at the Crummett Run Church of the Brethren by the Rev. Robert Alley. Burial will be in the Crummett Run Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be her grandsons, Rick and Lynn Botkin, Wayne and Richard Washington, David and Billy Coffey. Honorary pallbearers will be the grandchildren.
The family received friends from 7-8:30 p.m. Thursday at Obaugh Funeral Home.
