Peggy Ann (Lowry) Weaver, 84, of Hot Springs, passed away Friday, July 5, 2024 at The Woodlands Health and Rehab Center in Clifton Forge.
She was born in Highland County on August 15, 1939, a daughter of Millard Ernest and Daisy Ann (Turner) Lowry.
A Christian, she was raised in the former Wesley Chapel Advent Christian Church and a graduate of Monterey High School. An independent and strong-willed woman with a steadfast work ethic, she worked within the Homestead housekeeping department for forty-five years, and soon after retirement, returned to the Homestead Kid’s Club to provide childcare.
Known for being energetic and always on the go, Peggy enjoyed traveling to yard sales, shopping at thrift shops, and visiting regularly with family. Additionally, she filled many roles within her family, often times taking on responsibilities to selflessly help her siblings as well as extended family members. Above all, Peggy will be remembered for the unconditional love she had for her sons and most especially for her grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her brother, Lloyd Lowry: and sisters, Minnie Harris, Edna McLaughlin, Frances Lowry, Stella Floyd, Dorothy Lowry, Patsy Lesher, Helen Boggs, and infant sister, Lilly Lowry.
She is survived by sons, William “Billy” R. Weaver and wife, Tanny of Obetz, Ohio and Robbie B. Weaver and wife, Donna of Hot Springs; grandchildren, Mackenzie L. Weaver of Richmond, and Taylor N. Weaver of Hot Springs; nieces, Betty Bradley, Alice Harris, and Susan Peters all of Waynesboro; nephew, Joey Lowry of Waynesboro; as well as her close friends, Thelma Kellison and Joyce Shaffier, whom she considered sisters.
A funeral service will be held 1 p.m., Saturday, July 13, 2024 at Obaugh Funeral Home in McDowell with Pastor Donald Lee Altizer officiating. Interment will follow in Riverview Cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Mike Bradley, David Harris, Jonathon Lowry, Brian Fitzgerald, Allen Lowry, and Glen Lowry.
