Paul Swecker Colaw, 90, of Monterey, died Tuesday, June 16, 2009 at Augusta Medical Center. He was born July 1, 1918 in Blue Grass a son of the late George Edward and Virgie Belle (Swecker) Colaw.
Mr. Colaw was a farmer. He was a past member of New Church Methodist and the Blue Grass Ruritan Club. He loved to hunt and fish.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Ginny Curry and Becky Hull and an infant brother, Cyrus Dean Colaw.
He is survived by his wife, Glenna Louvina (Wimer) Colaw, whom he married June 22, 1940; a daughter and son-in-law, Betty C. and David W. Kiser of Blue Grass; a son and daughter-in-law, Sammy P. and Carol A. Colaw of Monterey; four granddaughters; three great-grandsons; two sisters, Mary Margaret Ruddick of Weyers Cave and Dorothy Shepherd of Monterey and three brothers, Wayne E. Colaw of Cherry Grove, WV, George E. “Goog” Colaw, Jr. of Blue Grass and John David Colaw of Mustoe.
A graveside service will be conducted 2 p.m., Friday, June 19, 2009 at Blue Grass Cemetery with the Rev. Richard S. Gibson and Rev. C. William “Bill” Cox officiating.
Pallbearers will be Gary Jack, Carl Hull, Pat Hull, Joe Will, Jackie Will and Lanny Wimer.
Friends may call at the home and at Obaugh Funeral Home in McDowell.
