Pamela Leigh Maupin, 57, passed away peacefully Sunday, March 21, 2010 at her home near McDowell. She was born May 27, 1952 in Harrisonburg a daughter of Alma (Moeller) Leigh Jenkins of Harrisonburg and the late Thomas Watkins Leigh, Sr.
Pamela received her BFA from Virginia Polytechnic Institute in 1974 and a Masters in English from James Madison University in 1980. She taught in the Rockingham County school system for 27 years, primarily at Spotswood High School, before retiring to live in Highland County. She was a member of the McDowell Presbyterian Church. She loved reading, hiking, birding and swimming in the Bull Pasture River. Best friend to many and will be sadly missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her loving husband, R. Wesley Maupin, whom she married June 28, 2003; her mother; two brothers, Thomas W. Leigh, Jr. and William Leigh both of Bridgewater; two nieces, Hannah and Kathleen Leigh and a nephew, Benjamin Leigh.
A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
