Ora Snyder

Ora Mae Snyder, 85, of Head Waters, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2011 at the home of her son. She was born Nov. 19, 1925 in Sugar Grove, W.Va., a daughter of the late Jasper Lee and Timily Simmons Puffenbarger.

Mrs. Snyder was a homemaker. She loved cooking, gardening and time spent with family at her home.

On May 18, 1945, she married Homer Roy Snyder, who preceded her in death on Aug. 2, 2004. She was also predeceased by a son, Garry W. Snyder, on Jan. 2, 2009; two sisters, Rella Smith and Ressie Botkin; and a brother, Ellis Puffenbarger.

She is survived by a son and daughterin law, Carson and Sandra Snyder of Head Waters; a daughter and son-in-law, Doris and Ray Hodge of Staunton; a daughterin law, Linda Snyder of Staunton; three grandchildren, David Snyder, Michael Hodge and Sherry Simmons; and three great-grandchildren, Justin Snyder, Ryan and Megan Simmons; and a number of nieces and nephews.

She was the last member of her immediate family.

A funeral service was conducted 11 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 12, at Obaugh Funeral Home in McDowell with the Rev. Lester LaPrade officiating. Burial was in Crummett Run Cemetery.

Active pallbearers were Wayne Puffenbarger, Russell Bingham, Larry Simmons, Charles Varner, Nelson Simmons and Ronnie Miller.
